Distinguish between average speed and average velocity.

The average velocity means the distance covered in a particular time...... The only difference between them is that the average velocity depends on the direction whereas not in case of average speed.

Average Velocity is displacement in per unit time ...Its a Vector quantity ...
It can be represented in positive , negative and Zero...

Its SI unit is also metre per seconds
