Differences Between Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable
Excessive non-biodegradable waste leads to limited landfill space
The basic difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable is that biodegradable items decompose or break down naturally. Non-biodegradable items don't. This particular difference is most important when discussing landfills and waste disposal. Large volumes of non-biodegradable waste take up excess waste and are potentially damaging to the environment.
Level of Decomposition
Biodegradability isn't typically an absolute. Instead, most waste items have a level of decomposition. Natural waste items, like banana peels and notebook paper, decompose within a few months. Pop cans and plastic sandwich bags range from 100 to 450 years. Certain items, including polystyrene cups, car tires and glass bottles may never decompose. Increased technology and manufactured goods made from plastics and metals contribute to more non-biodegradable waste in landfills.

Biodegradable waste
1.
Those which can be easily degraded by the decomposers into substances that go into soil and are harmless to the environment
2. Biodegradable wastes are non pollutant
3. they can act as soil manure
example - vegetables , fruits etc .
Non biodegradable waste
1. Those which cannot be degraded by the decomposers and thus remain in the environment causing pollution.
2. Non biodegradable wastes are pollutant
3. they cannot act as soil manure
example - plastics , glass etc
