Distinguish between biodegradable and non- biodegradable wastes? How can we help in reducing the problem of waste disposal? Suggest any two methods?​

The two ways in which non biodegradable waste can be disposed are as follows:

a) By recycling - The non-biodegradable waste can be changed to reusable form by the process of recycling.

b) Landfill is the oldest form of waste disposal where, the waste are buried underground.

Biodegradable waste Non-biodegradable waste

Those which can be easily degraded by the decomposers into substances that go into soil and are harmless to the environment. Those which cannot be degraded by the decomposers and thus remain in the environment causing pollution.

They are natural wastes. They are synthetic wastes.

Examples- vegetables wastes, animal excreta Examples- plastic, polythene
