Business Processing outsourcing or BPO generally refers to a system/method of lending some operations regarding ones' company to another third party.
That party would then take decisions regarding that department or those operations.
This applied mainly to manufacturing entities. For example: lets say Pepsi ; a beverage company subcontracts segments of its supply chains to other parties.
On the other hand Knowledge process outsourcing A.K.A, (KPO) is to do the same function, to sub-lend a department but only that such department will be outsourced which is related to information related activities in the business.
In this work related segments are given to specialists.
This may be lent to workers in a different company totally, or a subsidiary as well. Examples include: Giving work to R & D specialists or financial consultants. Kind of like hiring outside council.
