In the Matrix of cartilage are present fluid filled spaces called Lacunae.

Lacunae contains cartilage forming cells called the Chondrocytes.

Chondrocytes occur singly or in groups of two,three or four in the lacunae. The matrix is produced and mainted by the cartilage cells..
