The highest point of a wave is called the crest. The lowest point is called the trough. Wave height is the vertical distance betweenthe crest and trough. Wavelength is the horizontal distancebetween waves in a series.

Highest position of wave in positive direction is called as crest.
highest position of wave in negative direction is called as trough
