The new rules (268-277) relating to Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees came into effect on 29 March 1993 itself, following a direction from the Chairman. The Department- related Committee System was inaugurated by the then Vice-President and Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri K.R. Narayanan on 31 March 1993.
