Displacement:

  • It is the length between the initial position and final position of a body.
  • It is a vector quantity.
  • It means , it has both magnitude as well as direction.
  • For example, The displacement in one complete rotation on a circular track is Zero.
  • It is beacuse the body reached the initial point again, making its final position.

Path Length:

  • It is the total length of the path a body has travelled.
  • It doesn't have direction.
  • It has only magnitude.
  • Thus, it's a scalar quantity.
  • For example, The path Length in one complete rotation on a circular track is 2πr, where r is the radius of the circular track.
