Distinguish between distillation , filtration , winnowing and threshing. ​

• There is nothing common between filtration and distillation except one thing that both are seperation technique.
• Filtration depends on the size of particles(Molecules). If two or more substance different in size mixed with each other then you can seperate them by filtration.
• You can use centrifugal filtration, filter press,membrane seperate etc…
• There is different type of filtration is like vacuum filtration, pressure filtration.
• Distillation depends on the relative volatility. If two or more substance mixed with each other and relative volatility is greater than 1.3 then you can seperate them by distillation.
• (Note:- If the relative volatility is equal to 1 then also we can seperate them by azeotropic distillation and extractive distillation)

• You can use different type of distillation like

1. Short path distillation
2. Azeotropic distillation
3. Extractive distillation
4. Reactive distillation
