Answer:

The main difference between chemical synapse and electrical synapse is that in a chemical synapse, the nerve impulse passes chemically by means of neurotransmitters whereas an electrical synapse is connected through channel proteins. Nerve impulses pass through the membrane of the axon as an electrical signal.

Electrical conduction:

  • Electrical conduction takes place through the nervous system.
  • Electrical impulses are meant for specific cells that are connected to the nervous system.
  • The electrical conduction is very quick and results in an almost immediate response.

Chemical conduction:

  • Chemical conduction is a slow process as compared to electrical conduction.
  • Chemical impulses reach every part of the body and have nothing to do with the nervous system of the body.
  • Chemical impulses are carried by blood to the body parts.
  • The hormones are responsible for chemical conduction in the body.
