The reaction between alcohols and carboxylic acids to form esters is called esterification. Mainly can be considered as the reaction in which ester is formed is called esterification. when this ester reacts with a base(say NaOH) it forms C2H5OH and sodium salt of carboxylic acid which is called saponification.
