Finite verbs have to agree with subject as per the tenses.
Example-
He eats
He will have eaten.
He was eating.
See the verb 'eat' changing forms as the tense changes.
So, the verb 'eat' is a finite and is limited by the tenses.
Non-finites- The verbs which don't change forms with the change in tenses.
Example-
He was to eat
He was going to eat
He will have to eat.
He is to eat .
Here, the 'to eat' is not changing with the changes in tenses.
More Example-
Eating should be done with manners
I saw him eating something.
Here, Eating in both the sentences are non-finites as they are not changing their forms with the change in tenses.
