Fundamental Units:

There are seven fundamental units, namely:

  • The meter (m)
  • The kilogram (kg)
  • The second (s)
  • The kelvin (k)
  • The ampere (a)
  • The mole (mol)
  • The candela (cd)

Derived Units:

Derived are the units which are derived from the fundamental units. Example:

The unit of force is Newton which is equal to kg.m/s^2. Newton is derived from the unit of mass and acceleration.

Therefore, derived units are dependent units as they are derived from base units or derived units.
