A gamate is a haploid cell that fuses with another haploid cell during fertilization ( conception) in organisms that sexually reproduce.
while zygote is a eukaryotic cell formed by a fertilization event between two gametes. The zygote's genome is a combination of the DNA in each gamete, and contains all of the genetic information necessary to form a new individual.

ROLE:
gamets and zygote played a great role in sexual reproduction to produce offspring.
points to sum up the answer:
Gametes are the cells used during sexual reproduction to produce a new individual organism or zygote. The male gamete, sperm, is a smaller, mobile cell that meets up with the much larger and less mobile female gamete, egg or ova. Both sperm and egg are only haploid cells. They only carry half of the chromosomes .
.Sexually reproducing organisms make sex cells or gametes. Gametes serve two functions. They have the physiological capability to fuse with a gamete from the opposite sex and form a single cell (a zygote) that initiates the development of a new organism and the next generation.
