Heredity is the mechanism in which characters are transmitted, resemblance as well as the differences to the offspring from the parents whereas variation represents the visible differences shown by individuals within offspring and species

Through heredity, parents pass down genes that determine all of a living thing's traits. ,variation in genes between individuals or groups of individuals, is caused by differences in the genes passed down by parents, mutations, and a living thing's environment.
