In horizontal power sharing, power is shared among different departments of the government such as the judiciary, legislative and executive. Each department also checks the working of the other department.

Vertical power sharing:

While in the vertical power-sharing, the power is distributed from higher departments to lowers departments. The lower organs of the government work and obey the orders given by higher organs of the government.
