Differences between incineration and pyrolysis are as follows -
- Pyrolysis is associated with the thermal decomposition of organic materials only while incineration can thermally decompose both organic and inorganic matters.
- Since pyrolysis decomposes organic waste, bio-char and bio-oil is the resultant product while incineration results in the production of toxic ash.
- Temperature requirements for incineration are 1200 - 1500 °C while for pyrolysis is 500 - 800 °C.
