Difference between Latent and Manifest functions are given below:

Latent functions:

• The latent functions are not noticeable.
• Latent functions are a little complex and cannot be noticed by all the participants.
• It has a much deeper meaning to it and is not recognized or intended.
• Example: Having number of friends in school and enjoy their friendship is a latent function.

Manifest functions:

• Manifest functions are which can be easily noticed and seen.  
• It is known to everyone and is expected conclusion.  
• Example: Going to school and learning new things is part of the manifest function.
