distinguish between loksabha and rajyasabha in 5 points
Answers
Lok sabha: commonly called as (lower house of parliament)
Election held in every five year
Represenatitves are directly chosen by public through election.
Speaker is the head(responsible for fuctioning) and prime minister is the minister of house.
In total there are 543 members
Tenure of member is of 5 years and all members are chosen at once through elections(expection bye elections)
Rajya sabha: commonly called as upper house of parliament
Election held in every two years for 1/3 seats of rajya sabha
Represenatitves are chosen by the MLAs of state assembly through single trasferable vote. Lets make it simple. To secure one rajya sabha seat, there is a formula((No of MLAs in state assembly/No of seat +1)+1)
For example, if there are 70 MLAs in state assembly and 3 seats of rajya sabha to be choose then ((70/(3+1)+1)=19 MLAs……so 19 support of 19 MLAs are needed to secure one seat of rajya sabha….
Speaker is the head (generally vice president) and Leader of house is choose by the party who is majority in lok sabha
The point to be noted here is that, the leader of house may have the less number of members and Leader of opposition may be in majority
In total there are 245 members, out of 245 members, 12 are nominated by president and rest are choose by different state assembly.
Tenure of member is of 6 years and in every 2 years 1/3 members are chosen.
Rajya sabha generally have the low powers from lok sabha. The financial bills can be passed without rajya sabha
