Sand dunes are hills of sands that occur after sands blows from one place and get accumulated.
There are five types of sand dunes namely transverse, longitudinal or linear, barchan, blowout and composite dunes.
Transverse dunes occur where sand is abundant and it forms perpendicular to wind direction.
Longitudinal dunes are large and elongated sand dunes that occur where there is abundant supply of sand.
Parallel ridges of dunes are formed as linear dunes are formed parallel to wind direction.
