Both are inland waterecosystems. The difference is in the time it takes for the water to be renewed. Lotic refers to fast renewal of the water supply as in rivers and streams. ... Lenticrefers to ecosystems where water is trapped in some ground depression like lakes, ponds, marshs, etc.

The water bodies are divided into two types on the basis of absence or presence of flow in the water. Lotic habitat is defined as the region in water body in which there is flow of water and the water is in continuous state of motion in this habitat. Examples of lotic habitat include rivers and streams. Lentic habitat is defined as the region in water body in which there is no flow of water and water is stagnant. The standing water is known as the lentic water and it may be formed due to any depression in earth.
