Difference between mitosis and meiosis :-

  1. The division of cell in mitosis occurs once, whereas in meiosis the division occurs twice.
  2. There are 2 cells produced after mitosis whereas 4 daughter cells are produced after meiosis.
  3. The nuclei after mitosis division have same number of chromosomes whereas the nuclei after meiosis division has half number of chromosomes.
  4. Mitosis happens in somatic cells of body whereas meiosis occurs in germ cells.
  5. Recombination occurs in meiosis whereas recombination does not occur in mitosis.
  6. Variations occur in meiosis division whereas variations doesnt occur in mitosis division.
