Difference between natural and synthetic fibres
Explanation:
- Natural fibers have a very high absorbency which means these fibers possess a relatively high affinity for water as compared to synthetic fibers. It is for this reason they are also used for making bed sheets and towels.
- Synthetic fibers on the other hand, have lesser absorbency of water. In fact they resist water and are better suited for water-proof materials.
- Natural fibers burn while synthetic fibers melt. This happens because of difference in bonding in the 2 kinds of fiber.
- Primary and secondary bonds break down simultaneously in case of natural fibers whereas synthetic fibers being thermoplastic undergo a phase transition before completely burning down.
