Distinguish between Open Source Software and Proprietary Software.

Open Source Software :

Initiated with Richard who developed GNU project in 1983 and processed free software movement which led to revolutionary open-source software movement.

Community of people working with software will allow anyone for studying and modifying open-source code for any reason they want.  

Open-source movement broke all barriers between developers/programmers and software vendors encouraging everyone to open collaboration.  

Proprietory Software :

In some software source code of which can only be modified by individual/organization who developed it.

Owner/Publisher of software holds intellectual property rights of source code exclusively.  

This type of software called “proprietary software”only due the original owner(s) of software are legally permitted for inspection and modifying source code.

Proprietary software is solely owned by individual/organization that developed it.
