Original Jurisdiction means the power of a court to hear a case for the first time.

Whereas, Appellate Jurisdiction is a power of a court to review the orders of a lower/subordinate courts and may correct the orders of the lower courts if it deems necessary.

In India, Both the Supreme Court and High Courts have Original and Appellate Jurisdiction.
