Osteoblast and osteoclast are two types of bone cells on the basis of their functions. Osteoblasts are involved in formation of bone and in the mineralization of bone. On the other hand, osteoclasts are involved in removing the matrix of the bone and dissolving the collagen part of the bone to remove bone tissues by the process of bone resorption in which the bone is broken down and calcium is released in the blood.
