Oxidation is a process in which a chemical substance changes because of the addition of oxygen.

Whereas, Reduction is the process of gaining one or more electrons. In an oxidation-reduction, or redox, reaction, one atom or compound will steal electrons from another atom or compound.

Oxidation is the loss of electrons or an increase in oxidation state by a molecule, atom, or ion. 

Reductionis the gain of electrons or a decrease in oxidation state by a molecule, atom, or ion.
