OXIDATION NUMBER of an element in a compound is the charge assigned to an atom of the element if all the bonds in the compund were considered as ionic by counting the shared electrons pairs with more electronegative element.
VALENCY
It is measured as the number of electrons in the outer most shell ( Valence shell )
