the stratosphere is also known as ozonosphere . this is because most of the atmospheric Ozone is concentrated in the upper part of the stratosphere .
Ozone is a form of oxygen with 3 atoms instead of the more usual 2 .
it protects from the incoming ultraviolet rays of the Sun .
the stratosphere are the ozonosphere extends from tropopause to about 50 km above the surface of the earth .
it is a layer where temperature is relatively constant..
the end of the stratosphere is known as the stratopause .
the mesosphere lies above the stratopause .
and above the mesopause that is the end or upper limit of the mesosphere,
lies the thermosphere and ionosphere .
it extends from 80 km to about 480 km .
the temperature increases with increase in height .
this layer is made up of electrically charged gas molecules which reflects radio waves back to the earth .
hope this helps
