Difference in originality : Primary data are original because these are collected by the investigators from the source of their origin whereas secondary data are already in existence and they are not original.

Difference in Cost of Collection : Cost of collecting primary data is higher whereas cost for collecting secondary data is lower.

They can be collected by two methods : (i) Census (ii) Sample
