Distinguish between provinces and princely states... pls reply fast...

provinces means direct control by the head of the country that is by the king it is president/prime minister

princely states means that direct control by the states princes in the term it is Chief minister

Before 1947  there were two types of states in india :- the provinces and the princely states . provinces were directly ruled by British officials who were appointed by the viceroy . princely states were ruled by locals , hereditary rulers who acknowledge sovereignty in return for local autonomy
