The difference between ram and rom are as follows:-

ROM

ROM- Read Only Memory. It is ,as the name shows , a read only memory. these are created by manufactures of motherboards and you cant write anything on them.

The BIOS of a PC uses ROM. But now a days we have EEPROM (Electronically erasable programmable read only memory). Thats why settings of BIOS can be changed these days.

RAM

RAM - Random Access Memory. It is primary memory used by your computer. The currently running application gets transferred into RAM because It is much much faster than a hard drive.

It is temporary memory. So as it loses power, it loses its data. It is called random access memory because data can be read randomly from any location in the memory.
