- A real image and a virtual image are different forms of image. The main difference between real and virtual images lies in the way in which they are produced. A real image is formed when rays converge, whereas a virtual image occurs where rays only appear to divert.

- Real image is an image that can be caught/formed on a screen whereas virtual image cannot be.
- Real images are inverted(upside down) where as virtual images are upright. [The are the cases of an upright object]
- The image of ourselves which we see in a mirror is a virtual image.
- The plane mirror and the
- convex mirror always forms a virtual image.
- Concave mirror can form both real and virtual images depending on the object's position and the mirror's focal length.
