rest--the state of an object being stationary relative to a particular frame of reference or another object; when the position of a body with respect to its surroundings does not change with time it is said to be "at rest".

motion:-the state of an object being moving relative to a particular frame of reference or another object; when the position of a body with respect to its surroundings changes with time it is said to be "at motion".

a body is said to be in rest if it does not display with respect to time.

that is why a body is in rest have zero displacement.

While

a body is said to be in motion if the body displays with respect to time.

a body is in motion having some distance .
