Soil is classified on the basis of the proportion of particles of various sizes. O f soil contains greater proportion of big particles it is called sandy soil. If the amount of large and fine particles is about the same, then it is called loamy soil

Best topsoil for growing plants is loam. Loamy soil is a mixture of sand, clay and another type of soil particle known as silt

sandy soil can hold air but cannot hold much water as water drains quickly through large spaces between particles.

sandy soil :-

1. as it's almost sand so it have greater particles.

2. it is not very good for absorbing water.

3. particles are very loosely packed.

4. it is not rich in humas.

5. it contains lot of air between them.

6. water can drain quickly.

loamy soil :-

1. it is the mixture of both sandy and clayey soil so it have both small particles and big particles

2. it can hold a good amount of water.

3. particles are packed but not very tightly or very loosely.

4. it is rich in humas.

5. it doesn't contain lot of air between them.

6. water can't drain quickly.

loamy soil is the best soil for growing crops whereas sandy soil is not.
