The distinguishable feature between sewage and effluent is that -

1. Sewage is a type of suspension of wastes in the form of liquid or solid whereas effluent is something that flows out like rivers or lakes.

2. Sewage contains excreta of humans, animals, etc, whereas effluent is waste water that comes from factories or industries.

3. Sewage contains mixture of both toxic and chemical materials whereas effluent contains waste matters that are discharged from industries.

Difference between sewage and effluent:

Sewage:

Sewage is the wastewater or domestic wastewater which was produced by the community of people. Sewage is carried by the different drains and pipes from community. This is a mixture of chemical, toxic materials.

Effluent:

This is the waste material which was discharged into our sewers from any industrial or business processes. This is totally different from our daily household waste products. This can be defined as anything other than our daily waste product like toilet, bath or other waste.
