Answers
The terms effluent, wastewater and sewage overlap in meaning. Effluent is a more of a directional word when applied to wastewater or sewage. Sewage leaving my home is an effluent. When it enters the local treatment system it is an influent.
The two term sewage and effluents are synonymous and have minute difference.
Effluent water contain solids up to 5 cm in size, normally considered to be water containing soap, laundry discharge, water from sinks, etc.
Water with large solids particles is called sewage water.
Another key difference between two is the effluent is generally refered to waste water flowing into the stream or natural water bodies . When this effluent undergoes treatment it is called as influent.
When untreated effluent flows from chemical industries and drain into natural water bodies, it has potential to harm flora and fauna upto great extant.
These chemicals incorporated into flora and fauna and has become the part of food chain .
On the other hand sewage contains human excreta, washed of materials and other large particles.
