Sima means soil rich in silica and magnesium and sial means soil rich in silica and aluminium

SIAL -- It is the upper crust which comprises of continental masses .

It is made of lightweight material.

It mainly composes of two minerals - Silica (Si) and Aluminium (Al).


SIMA -- It is the lower part of the crust which comprises of oceanic crust .

It forms a thin ocean floor and is denser than continental crust .

It is mainly composed of two minerals - Silicon (Si) and Magnesium (Mg).
