Skimming and scanning are two different techniques for fast reading. Skimming is all about reading the article in order to get the general idea of it. On the other way,scanning is about locating a specific text or phrase in a document. Reading is often treated as a technique.

Skimming is reading a text quickly to find out the general theme, topic or meaning......And Scanning is reading a text quickly in order to find specific information,......example....figures or names....
