The power transfer on the departure of the British from India merely changed the colour skin of rulers as there were not changes in administrative structures or in the mentality of those assigned to manage various posts.

The distinguished sources of strength and weakness of Indian democracy are as follows -

• The main strength of the Indian democracy is the superiority of the Indian constitution which is the main base of Indian democracy. No other political power or position goes above the constitution.

• The unity of the Indian population is also a strength of the Indian democracy.

On the other hand,

• The unethical practices of social division on the basis of religion, financial conditions, are the most dangerous weaknesses of the Indian democracy. Because,it creates division among the population which violates the equality of the democracy.

• The flaw in the law system and lack modernization in the political administration are also major weaknesses of the Indian democracy.

And many more.
