Answer:
THE BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED AND VELOCITY IS: 1.SPEED HAS ONLY MAGNITUDE AND NO DIRECTION WHEREAS VELOCITY HAS BOTH MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION. 2.SPEED IS ALWAYS POSITIVE(THAT IS NON - NEGATIVE AND NON-ZERO) WHEREAS VELOCITY IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. 3.SPEED IS SCALAR QUANTITY AND VELOCITY IS VECTOR QUANTITY

Speed :-
- Distance travelled by a body in unit time.
- It is a scalar quantity (which means it has only magnitude and not direction)
- It can never be negative.
Velocity :-
- Distance travelled by a body in unit time in a given direction.
- It is a vector quantity (which means it has both direction and magnitude)
- As it is a vector quantity it can be negative
