Speed is a scalar quantity while velocity is a vector quantity.
Speed does not give the direction of the body but velocity gives the direction.
After one round in a circular path, avg speed is not zero but avg velocity is zero.
Speed is always positive but velocity can be positive or negative depending on the direction of motion of the body.
