in easy words we can say

velocity is the speed with directions. where as speed do not have direction.
speed is a scalar quantity and velocity is vector quantity .

Speed means a scalar quantity and velocity means vector quantity. Distance travelled by a body per unit of time is called its speed. The SI unit of speed is meter per second. The distance travelled by a body per unit time in a given direction is called its velocity. The SI unit of velocity is also meter per second.
