The difference between stock and reserve resources are as follows:
STOCK : These resources have the potential to satisfy human need, but human beings do not have the required technical knowledge to use them e.g. hydrogen and oxygen in the water can be a rich source of energy. But technical know how for this purpose is not available.
RESERVES : These are specific stocks for which appropriate technical know how is available, but exploration is not started yet. e.g. river water for Hydel energy or forest are reserves but still has limited exploration.
