any word used before any word is called prefix, example- un-stable, un-do,

any word used after main word is called suffix, example- edit-able, child-ish

A group of letters placed before a word.

For example:  the word unusual consists of un as a prefix before the word usual

SUFFIX

A group of letters placed after a word.

For example:  the word eagerly consists of ly as a suffix after the word eager
