Management seeks to achieve coordination by planning, organizing, directing, and controlling its basic functions. Management's purpose is to organize all the different functions. Coordination, is the essence of management which ensure that an organization's assets are used most efficiently to achieve the goal set.

Controlling means ensuring that the organization's operations are carried out in compliance with the plans. Controlling also ensures the effective and efficient use of the resources of an organization to achieve predetermined goals. Therefore, controlling is a goal-oriented function. Management control means setting standards, assessing good results and taking corrective action.
