Dear Student,

◆ Differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration -

  1. Aerobic respiration takes place in presence of oxygen while anaerobic respiration takes place in absence of oxygen.
  2. In aerobic respiration, glucose breakdown is complete while in anaerobic respiration, glucose breakdown is incomplete.
  3. Aerobic respiration releases 38 ATPs while during anaerobic respiration 2 ATPs are released.
  4. Aerobic respiration can takes place in cytoplasm as well as mitochondria while anaerobic respiration occurs only in cytoplasm.
  5. End products of aerobic respiration are CO2 and water. End products of anaerobic respiration are ethanol and CO2 (sometimes lactic acid).
  6. Example of aerobic respiration is humans while examples of anaerobic respiration is yeast.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..

Distinguish between Aerobic respiration and Anaerobic respiration:

Aerobic Respiration:

  • Aerobic Respiration takes place in "presence of oxygen" and its presence is mandatory.
  • In Aerobic respiration glucose is "incompletely oxidized" and the end products produced in the process are "Carbon Dioxide and water".
  • In Aerobic respiration occurs in most of plants and animals.

Anaerobic Respiration:

  • Anaerobic Respiration is the respiration which occurs in "absence of oxygen".
  • Anaerobic respiration "glucose is completely oxidized".
  • Anaerobic respiration occurs in Yeast, some bacteria, etc.
  • The "end products of anaerobic respiration" are ethyl alcohol and CO_{2}or Lactic acid.
