Ganga basin is much larger than Brahmaputra basin.Gangaflows through Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Delhi. But Brahmaputra flows in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam in India. The length of Ganga flowing in India is 2400 km. The length of Brahmaputra is only 725 km. So Ganga basin is the largest basin in India.

  1. Ganga plain is have fertile soil which help in agriculture like wheat and sugarcane.
  2. Brahmaputra plain which is commonly a Ganga plain become a Brahmaputra plain in the regio West Bengal to Bangladesh.
  3. Brahmaputra plain is also a fertile soil but less than the Ganga plain as it color is different from ganga plain.
  4. The Ganga Plain - It is the largest part of the Northern Plain and extends between Ghaggar and Teesta rivers .
  5. The Brahmaputra Plain - It forms the eastern part of the Northern Plain by the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
  6. It is narrower than the Ganga Plain and is a flood prone area.
  7. In the south-east side of the Northern Plain lays the Ganga-Brahmaputra delta which is the largest delta of the world.
