tributary is a stream or river that flows into a larger one.

for example - as ganga river is a tributary of yamuna, gomti ,kosi ghaghra ,these all are tributaries of ganga .

distributary- distributary means those water streams/ Rivers which never contribute to other Rivers like ganga but it deviate its streams in another direction.
