In this question, we need to differentiate between the Vedic and Buddhist education systems.

  • The Vedic education was the domestic system of education.
  • In this system forest was their school and all the students stayed in the home of their guru in their ashrams. They were taught in a homely atmosphere.
  • The Buddhist system was a monastic system of education. The monasteries and viharas where Bhikshus were residing developed into educational institutions.
  • In the Vedic education system guru used to run the education system in the way he liked.
  • In the Buddhist education system there was a common organization and they need to follow the rules of the Sangh.
